Biography
I am a member of Irwin Mitchell’s Costs Management Team and a Team Leader in the London office. I deal with the recovery of contentious legal costs and have considerable experience in this area having qualified as a Solicitor in November 2008 before starting a career in costs in May 2010.
My experience encompasses bill drafting and negotiating, preparation of Points of Dispute and Points of Reply, Part 18 requests, applications, witness statements, and some advocacy. I have experience of paying party and receiving party work with receiving party work being the majority of my workload.
I tend to focus on high value, complex claims and technical matters. As a Team Leader of the London Costs Team, I also oversee the work of a team of Costs Lawyers and Costs Draftsman.
What inspired you to get into law?
I always planned a career in law, being drawn to a job that I anticipated would be ever evolving and therefore offering a unique experience throughout my career. I actually planned to become a Wills and Probate Lawyer however life had other plans for me and I began working in costs.
The work suits me completely, marrying together my love of numbers and spreadsheets with a legal landscape that is dynamic and ever changing.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is achieving the best possible outcome for my clients (internal and external). I love the satisfaction of knowing that I have used the law to achieve a fair outcome and that I can have an influence on future decisions with cases that run to hearings.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell has such a family feel to it. I feel such a part of a community and that we are all working together to achieve the same goals.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office I enjoy reading, walking and spending time with my family.
