Biography
I am a Chartered Legal Executive having qualified in 2019. I currently work in the Workplace Illness team, specialising in representing clients suffering from asbestos-related diseases. I appreciate what a difficult time it can be for clients and their families when diagnosed with mesothelioma or lung cancer. Previous clients have praised the caring and compassionate manner with which I have handled their cases.
What inspired you to get into law?
Growing up, I enjoyed investigating things and have always been inquisitive. I studied Forensic Investigation at University with a desire to work as a Scenes of Crime Officer alongside police officers to help solve crimes.
However, through my studies and work experience, I realised that I wasn’t satisfied with this role as I was always left wanting to know what happened to the victims and their families after the accident. With this in mind, I returned to university to study for my law degree to become a personal injury solicitor.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Knowing that the work I do is making a difference to families whose lives have been devastated by a cancer diagnosis. We cannot overturn a terminal diagnosis, but we can offer a helping hand and financial security for loved ones in successful cases.
My job satisfaction comes from the relationships I have with clients and their families while ensuring they get access to rehabilitation and compensation so that they can have all the support, care and opportunities they need in the future. It's a real privilege to watch people who have been through a really traumatic experience emerge from their rehabilitation and build in confidence for the future, and to help and support them through that process.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I enjoy working with like-minded people who have a genuine desire to want to do the very best for their clients. My colleagues are top quality and share the belief, that I also hold, that the client is at the centre of all that we do. They will leave no stone unturned in getting the best evidence to get the best results for our clients.
Irwin Mitchell can also offer its clients a full range of legal services meaning that clients get the very best legal advice throughout their legal claim and beyond.
What do you do away from the office?
I have a very naughty beagle, Charlie, who is a handful and needs lots of walks. Foolishly, I thought that introducing a sproodle puppy to the family would calm him down - how wrong was I... I now have two wild animals to contend with!
I also enjoy meeting up with my family and friends and catching up over food and drinks.
Testimonials
"Since our case has been taken over by Kerry Ford (Sheffield branch), she has been amazing. It’s nice to know she is always on the end of the phone, she always answers our questions and queries in a friendly but professional manner. In such a short time she has worked so hard for us and the case has moved forward significantly since she has taken over. Kerry has understood the situation we are in and has shown a good knowledge of what a brain injury means not only to the client but also what this means to the family, she has given us full support at all times and continues to do so. We can’t thank Kerry enough for the hard work and commitment she has put in so far, highly recommended." - 5* Trustpilot review
