Biography
I am a Legal Director in the Serious Injury Team in Newcastle. I specialise in acting for those who have suffered life changing injuries, such as traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, amputation, polytrauma and chronic pain arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work, with a particular interest in cycling related accidents.
The Legal 500 has ranked me as a recommended lawyer for personal injury and clinical negligence claims.
What inspired you to get into law?
I became a lawyer later in life having previously been an academic, a qualified librarian and an IT Manager. I wanted a role which challenged me intellectually but also allowed me to help people. I immediately found personal injury law combined all that I was interested and passionate about; law, medicine, psychology and people.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Using my knowledge and experience to assist injured clients and their families navigate the often overwhelming process of bringing a personal injury claim and achieving the best outcomes for their case is constantly rewarding.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell provides a supportive environment with all the resources I need to do the best job for my clients. In addition to the great strength and depth we have in the area of personal injury I can call on colleagues in other teams to assist with any other matters which can arise during the course of claim.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office I love getting outdoors; either cycling or hiking, particularly in Scotland. I have been lucky enough to travel extensively and look forward to my next adventures abroad. I also enjoy cinema, theatre, dance, cooking, eating and drinking and spending time with my family and friends.
