Biography
I am a Chartered Legal Executive in Irwin Mitchell's Lifestyle and Estate Planning team.
I advise clients nationally and internationally on Wills and succession planning, lifetime tax planning, Powers of Attorney, trusts and the administration of estates.
I work with UK individuals and international families assisting in complex cross-border estate administration and succession planning.
I provide advice on the relevant tax reliefs for individuals and trusts, such as Inheritance Tax, Business Relief, Agricultural Property Relief, and Capital Gains Tax.
What inspired you to get into law?
Some years ago, having experienced a close bereavement, I found myself in a daunting world of legal uncertainty at a time during which I was feeling my most vulnerable. Having lost a close family member, the last thing I felt prepared to do was navigate the legal world and battle legal jargon and unknown processes. After coming out the other side, I felt called to assist others by providing guidance and advice to provide comfort and legal support during what can be very difficult times.
Whether it is assisting in guiding conversations pre-death or supporting and providing advice following a death, this is an area of law I not only advise on but have empathy and understanding, this is what drives me daily in my work.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I have the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life, getting to know them and building trust between each other so that I can be a trusted legal advisor not only for them but also their family.
I take pride in being able to offer a tiny slice of comfort and ease to some of my clients who may be facing an emotionally difficult and legally uncertain time. If I can provide even a small guiding light to them by assisting them with navigating an estate planning or estate administration process, I feel rewarded, and this is what motivates me.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I am forever grateful for the team spirit and support of my local and wider national team, there is always someone to go to for advice and moral support.
I have the opportunity to work alongside some of the leading lawyers in their fields, which inspires me.
I also really enjoy the breadth of work I am able to be a part of at Irwin Mitchell.
What do you do away from the office?
I really enjoy swimming, yoga and meditation as forms of relaxation.
During the winter months you will find me curled up with my nose in a good book and a cup of tea is never far away.
During the sunnier months, I enjoy visiting my family in Devon where I often sample the delicious cream teas, to support the local economy of course!
I also love travelling the world and immersing myself in difficult cultures, climates and cuisines!
