Biography
James Riley is an Associate Solicitor in the International Serious Injury Department based in Birmingham.
He acts exclusively for UK citizens who have suffered life-changing injuries due to serious accidents whilst either on holiday or working abroad. He also acts for foreign citizens who’ve been involved in accidents in the UK.
James has acted for seriously injured Claimants in a wide variety of cases, including catastrophic road traffic accidents, accidents at work, medical negligence, sexual assault, rape and fatal accidents.
Despite the accidents happening abroad, James is often able to litigate cases in England but he has also successfully brought cases in foreign jurisdictions all over the world. He regularly conducts cases in the High Court and he has also taken cases to the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
James was recognised as The Times Lawyer of the Week in 2021 and won the Outstanding Case of the Year, together with Philip Banks, at the Claims Media Personal Injury Awards 2021 for his work on X v Kuoni Travel Ltd.
James is an active member of the APIL and PEOPIL and he speaks regularly at conferences.
