During my training contract, I worked in other departments, but I have always been passionate about Medical Negligence. I qualified as a Solicitor into our combined Leeds and Newcastle team in August 2023.

What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Since joining Irwin Mitchell as a trainee, I have always been surrounded by people who are passionate about their role and promoting a high standard of client care. My colleagues have always used their knowledge and experience to support me and develop my understanding, which has helped me progress in my career.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I feel that I am able to help clients and also their families, when they are in a very difficult period in their life and I feel that I am able to support and help them process what has happened. Ultimately, if we are able to secure compensation for a client it is extremely rewarding, as it helps clients being able to access things such as rehabilitation or further support to help make their day to day life easier.
What inspired you to get into law?
I have always been interested in medicine and learning about different medical conditions. I first found my love for Law when I picked it as one of my A Levels subjects and it quickly became my favourite subject. I really enjoyed the logical side of law and also learning how laws govern most aspects of our day to day lives. I went to the University of York to study Law in 2017. In second year, I studied healthcare law and was introduced to medical negligence. I enjoyed combining my interests of medicine and law together and I realised I wanted to pursue a career in medical negligence.
With medical negligence, you are constantly learning every day. I also really enjoy working with people and having the opportunity to work in a client facing role is very rewarding.
What do you do away from the office?
I am originally from Norfolk and I love going for walks in the countryside or the beach (which is my happy place). I enjoy keeping active and go to the gym and spin classes regularly. I also really enjoy going travelling and experiencing new places and cultures!
