Biography
I am a Court of Protection Solicitor specialising in property and affairs Deputyship matters. I joined the Irwin Mitchell Court of Protection Team in April 2022 and am based in the London office. I have cross jurisdictional experience in incapacity law having originally qualified as a Solicitor in Scotland in 2020 and cross qualifying in England & Wales in October 2022.
My day-to-day role is focused around helping clients manage their property and finances, specialising in high value complex estates. This ranges from assisting clients with daily expenditure and helping them budget, through to purchasing and adapting properties to meet their needs. I work closely with the Irwin Mitchell Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams to support them in managing interim damages whilst the client’s litigation is ongoing. I also assist the Deputy in making decisions for our clients and promote the client’s wishes and needs.
I focus on understanding client needs to ensure their best interests are at the heart of every decision.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I originally studied business and management science and after graduating I worked in a few different sectors, but I couldn’t find my groove. I decided to go back to university and embark on a law degree as I wanted to study a subject that would be academically challenging and more people focused. I take pleasure in reporting that my legal endeavours were not in vein.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
My clients are often vulnerable and have additional needs, therefore, seeing clients succeed is by far the most rewarding aspect of working as a Court of Protection lawyer.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
The people are fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and sociable too. The team I work in all share a passion for and are driven by helping our clients which makes for a remarkable workplace. Irwin Mitchell is home to some of the top Court of Protection lawyers in the country meaning it is a great place for me to learn and develop my knowledge and skills.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
Tennis is my main interest outside of work - I totally love it! I am a keen indoor top rope and lead climber and have even ventured outdoors adding to the adrenaline. I am also a budding Yogi which works well alongside a city life.
