Biography
I started working at Irwin Mitchell in 2017 as a Paralegal in the Sheffield Serious Injury Team. I then applied for a Training Contract and began training in September 2019. My Training Contract saw me spend time in various teams including, the Polytrauma team, Family Law team and the Public Law team. I've since returned to the Serious Injury team working with the Neurotrauma team.
I work on cases involving catastrophic brain injuries, spinal injuries, multiple orthopaedic injuries, chronic pain and psychiatric injuries. I work with adults, adolescents and children and assist clients through not only the litigation process but also in sourcing rehabilitation and helping them to rebuild their lives after such traumatic accidents. I believe that the legal process should be made as simple and accessible as possible and assist clients with this throughout the lifetime of their claim.
What inspired you to get into law?
I knew from an early age that I wanted to pursue a career in Law but was never certain of the area that I wanted to specialise in. It didn’t take long after joining the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell to know that this was where I wanted to be. I enjoy working with people and wanted a career with lots of human interaction.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Litigation offers more than just compensation. It offers clients a route to life changing rehabilitation and helps people navigate through a difficult time in their lives. Being able to assist clients in reaching their potential after an accident is an extremely rewarding part of my job.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
From my first day at Irwin Mitchell I was hugely impressed with the Charity work that colleagues are encouraged to get involved with. I've been a member of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) since joining the firm and a hugely proud to be a part of the amazing work that they do for local communities.
What do you do away from the office?
In my spare time I enjoy playing hockey, running and spending time with my family.
In 2016, I spent the summer at the California Innocence Project in America where I worked on cases to free innocent inmates from prison. I worked closely with both Attorneys and with Exonerees, helping to provide legal and emotional support following their release and when rebuilding their lives.
