Biography
My role as a Paralegal involves acting for clients in criminal injuries (CICA) claims. I deal with a range of abuse and assault cases for claimants of varying ages.
I joined Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office in 2021. Before this, I completed my Law degree at the University of Leeds and engaged in voluntary community engagement programmes at the university whilst working part-time as a retail assistant.
What inspired you to get into law?
My interest in law sparked during my A-level studies and grew deeper in University when I explored the practical, problem-solving elements of law.
Working in a customer-facing role for 4 years also allowed me to come to the realisation that I enjoyed helping others.
Combining the elements of intellectually-stimulating work and helping resolve clients’ problems, no matter how big or small, made me realise that law would be the ideal path to go down.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is ensuring that our clients feel supported through their difficult times and achieving a strong outcome for them.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I enjoy working at Irwin Mitchell due to the opportunities to develop both in a professional and personal capacity. I feel trusted and supported by members of my team in the work that I do.
I also like that my opinions are valued and I’m able to collaborate with wider members of the firm e.g. when producing articles for development of the business and for IM Respect (a group which is focused on diversity and inclusion).
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of the office, I like to socialise with my family and friends (when our schedules allow for it!)
I enjoy trying out new places to eat and winding down with a good mystery/thriller book in my spare time.
