Biography
I specialise in advising family business owners, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals in respect of succession planning and asset protection. This involves analysing any existing structures and advising on how we can help restructure their affairs to achieve their goals in a tax efficient way. This uses a combination of Wills, trusts and wider estate planning, for example, Family Investment Companies.
I’m also experienced in advising trustees in relation to the administration of trusts. This includes advising them on the scope of their powers, discretions and duties, and considering ways in which we could reorganise complex family trusts.

What inspired you to get into law?
Whilst studying for my History degree, I found I was drawn to topics that had a legal aspect to them – policing and human rights in particular. This inspired me to seek out work experience placements at a number of law firms, as well as to apply for law school. I was introduced to equity and trusts there, and the rest is history!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I really enjoy getting to know my clients and their families and identifying what we can do to assist them in planning for the future. I’ve been told I’m “quite cheery for a tax lawyer” and like being able to help put clients at ease when we’re discussing complex issues and addressing difficult questions.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell promotes a collaborative way of working which is supportive, both for the client and colleagues. It means that the team works together to promote each other’s strengths, and makes sure the client has the best person for the job working on each element of their matter.
Having so many specialists under one roof also means that we can easily involve colleagues from other teams if we need input on another area of law too.
What do you do away from the office?
A toddler and dog keep me fairly busy outside of work! I love spending time with family and friends, and whenever I have a moment to myself I enjoy baking, listening to live music, yoga and calligraphy.
