Biography
I am an Associate solicitor specialising in medical negligence, based at the Sheffield office. I've worked at Irwin Mitchell since May 2020.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and have experience in a wide verity of medical negligence cases including:
- Delays in diagnosis and treatment, including cancer
- Surgical errors
- Injuries caused during childbirth.
I'm also a Senior Litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
What inspired you to get into law?
I have always had strong sense of justice and an inquisitive mind. I wanted to help people in whatever career path I chose.
A summer job at a local law firm confirmed that a career in law was the path that I wanted to take.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Clients are often concerned that their healthcare provider hasn't listened to them and that they don't understand why they're in the position that they are in.
It's very rewarding to listen to clients in what can be very difficult times for them and pursue answers to their questions.
Being able to help clients get back on track with their lives and get compensation where appropriate is another incredibly rewarding aspect of my job.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I'm proud to work in a large team of very talented people, who all have the best interests of our clients at their core.
What do you do away from the office?
In my spare time I enjoy mountain biking and time with my family. I have a young daughter who loves the outdoors which tends to occupy my weekends.
Testimonials
"I was subject to mis-diagnosis resulting in me having my left eye removed. I searched the web for legal advice and liked the look of the Irwin Mitchell site. I had a prompt and sympathetic interview with the promise to investigate and then make a claim on my behalf. I was told this could take 2 to 3 years, and it did in fact take a little over 3 years before it came to a successful conclusion. During this period I was kept up to date with what was happening.
"I had 2 interviews. One with a consultant ophthalmologist and the other with a consultant psychiatrist. The experts they used were some of the best in their field.
"The claim negotiations were expertly conducted whilst I was kept in the loop at each stage. These were difficult times for me. The contact was by email and telephone because of COVID. I can say that the solicitor dealing with my case displayed great empathy and whilst I haven't met him, Andrew Newton seemed to become my friend. Ì thoroughly professional, and warming experience provided by Irwin Mitchell." - 5* Trustpilot review
