Biography
I started working at Irwin Mitchell in 1994 and I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2006. I have experience of dealing with road traffic collisions, fatal accidents, accidents at work and accidents in public places.
I joined the Serious Injury Team in 2018 where we specialise in dealing with severe orthopaedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and spinal cord injuries (SCI).
An important part of my role is seeking to secure early interim payments to help people access rehabilitation as soon as possible after sustaining life-changing injuries. Rehabilitation is key and we never underestimate the importance of getting this in early to help people rebuild their lives.
What inspired you to get into law?
I initially worked as a Legal Secretary and seeing the work that went into helping clients rebuild their lives after some devastating circumstances inspired me to progress my career further. Whilst I was working as a full-time paralegal, I studied for four years with the Institute of Legal Executives and thankfully qualified in 2006.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I am so proud of the work that we do and the clients that we represent who've sustained life-changing injuries. With the correct rehabilitation and treatment, it's rewarding to see them progress from initially taking some small steps to achieve a small goal to ultimately the bigger picture in their road to recovery.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
It may sound a cliché but genuinely the people I work with. I am part of a team that genuinely care about others and are passionate about the clients we each represent.
We pride ourselves on 'Expert Hand, Human Touch' to guide not only our clients but their families through what can be a very difficult stage of their lives.
What do you do away from the office?
I have a very busy family life driving my children around to numerous activities, watching my son playing football and my daughter with drama and dancing.
Just to add a little more excitement I also foster Support Dogs whilst they are in training to become either autism, epilepsy or disability assistance dogs. Although it's extremely rewarding, it can be tough when they leave us to go to their forever home.
