Delaware Woman ‘Continues To Suffer As A Result Of Device’

An American lady who continues to suffer as a result of injuries caused by a transvaginal mesh manufactured by Boston Scientific is to receive multimillion dollar damages following a major court ruling.

Reuters reports that Deborah Barba, 51, is set to receive a total of $100 million after being implanted with Boston Scientific’s Pinnacle and Advantage Fit products in 2009, with serious complications then emerging.

After a two-week trial, it was ruled the manufacturer was negligent in the production of the devices and also failed to warn patients or medical experts of risks.

Many thousands of women around the world have received similar implants and will hope that the ruling will lead Boston Scientific and other companies to settle any remaining cases related to transvaginal mesh devices. However, Boston stated that it intends to appeal.
