Award Follows Recent Promotion To Head Of National Role

Irwin Mitchell is proud to announce that Andrea Jones has been awarded the prestigious STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Founder’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.

The STEP Founder’s Awards are given to extraordinary volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to the Society, significantly contributing to its success.

Andrea has been actively involved with STEP Yorkshire for 12 years. She became a TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner) in 2012 and joined the STEP Yorkshire committee that year. During her time on the committee, she has taken on several roles, including secretary, Vice Chair of the Collaborative Professionals Network in Yorkshire, representing STEP Yorkshire in that collaboration of various professional networks to promote networking and knowledge sharing/professional development.

Andrea was Chair of STEP Yorkshire from June 2020 to June 2023 and remained on the committee until June 2024. Since then, she has been involved in the Power of the Volunteer working group for STEP and works with STEP on behalf of Irwin Mitchell to ensure that the firm meets the standards required to continue to be recognised as a STEP Platinum Employer Partner.

Andrea has 20 years of experience in private client law, specialising in advising families, business owners, and entrepreneurs on pre- and post-death succession planning. She established the non-contentious private client team at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office when she joined in 2018, expanded to Newcastle and the North East in 2021, and became a Partner in 2020.

Earlier this year, Andrea was promoted to a new role as National Head of Private Client Advisory Services at Irwin Mitchell. The new team brings together the firm’s estate planning, trusts, powers of attorney, will-writing, probate, wealth protection, and succession planning expertise. It is one of the largest specialist private client teams in the country and is highly ranked by several independent guides to the best advisors, such as Legal 500, Chambers UK, Eprivateclient, and Spears.

Andrea is also recommended in Chambers & Partners High Net Worth 2025, Spears and is named as a leading partner in the Legal 500 2025 guide.
