Irwin Mitchell Sponsorship Supports Sporting Success At Sixways Stadium
Specialist lawyers from Irwin Mitchell swapped the courtroom for coaching and suits for tracksuits as they supported an Inclusive Sports Day in Worcester for schoolchildren with Special Educational Needs.
Organised in conjunction with the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation, the free event at Sixways stadium, saw pupils from academic years 7-11 take part in a range of sports, both to develop their skills and introduce them to new activities some had not tried before.
In addition to traditional sports such as rugby and cricket, the children were also encouraged to try out new sports such as boccia, an established Paralympic sport, similar to bowls.
The aim of the day was to work with schools to drive inclusivity in sport and provide opportunities for more children to discover the transformative power of physical activity in terms of both physical and mental health.
Irwin Mitchell has been involved in promoting sport in support of its clients and local communities for several years. Thanks to sponsorship and the support of colleagues, the campaign has been able to raise awareness of the many benefits inclusive sport offers, in terms of individual heath and bringing communities together.
The Irwin Mitchell team, led by specialist serious injury lawyer Toni Knott were on hand to support the day’s activities, handing out goodie bags and medals for children to remember the day with.
Using the power of sport to engage and inspire vulnerable groups to live an active and rewarding lifestyle, the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation works to build a legacy for sport, education and health across communities.
The Foundation have supported over 20,000 people annually across several projects, including sports days as part of the charity’s SEN Sport Foundation.
Isobel Brick from the Worcester Warriors Community Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Irwin Mitchell to deliver another amazing experience for children of all ages from our communities.
“Our delivery is focused on participation and enjoyment and helping the children to make the most of the experience. It’s also an opportunity to allow children to explore rugby and other sports, including through adapted versions of games, to allow them to try something new and develop their confidence. It’s great to see the children get so much out of it and we are grateful to Toni and her colleagues for their support.”

“Sports like cricket and rugby promote teamwork and are great icebreakers, while sports like boccia also ensured there was something for everyone and it was great to see the kids involved having so much fun along the way.
“We believe in forming strong links within the communities in which we’re based and through our work we see first-hand what a positive impact sport can have on the lives of individuals.
