Irwin Mitchell Donate £10,000 To The National Literary Trust
After a year of disruption to the schooling of millions a law firm has made a donation to a national charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged children the skills to succeed.
To mark the year anniversary of the first Covid-19 lockdown, Irwin Mitchell donated £10,000 to the National Literacy Trust, a charity committed to improving the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of young people who need it most.
Lockdown has led to considerable disruption to education for many children over the last 12 months, with the biggest impact falling on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The donation follows the launch of Irwin Mitchell’s new Responsible Business Strategy and forms part of the firm’s commitment to the communities in which it operates.
In addition to donations for charities on the front line of the response to Covid-19 in 2020, this latest donation will support the National Literacy Trust in raising literacy levels in areas most in need. The funding will support families and give children the best chance of success in school, work and life.
Darranda Rowswell, Director of Development at the National Literacy Trust, said: “We’re so grateful for this fantastic donation. Irwin Mitchell’s generosity will help to support children and families up and down the country and raise literacy levels in areas most in need. Your support will help us strengthen our impact and change children's life stories.”
