Stefano D’Ambrosio Joins To Boost Firm’s Environmental Law Practice
Irwin Mitchell’s Planning and Environment Team is being boosted by the arrival of Stefano D’Ambrosio, a specialist environment lawyer who advises on all aspects of environmental law.
The team, which is headed by Claire Petricca-Riding, is now a team of ten and sits within Irwin Mitchell’s National Real Estate Division which has 25 partners and 145 fee earning staff (including the partners).
Stefano is dual-qualified as a solicitor in the United Kingdom and as a lawyer in Peru, where he practised law for around 7 years. There he worked for Ausenco, an international environmental services provider in its Lima office and later as an environmental auditing lawyer for the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency.
In Peru, Stefano specialized in providing legal advice in environmental matters for the development of large-scale investment projects in the natural resources sector. He also has expertise in assisting on all stages of environmental impact assessment processes, the development of environmental due diligence and permits applications. He is experienced in dealing with mines and minerals regulations.
During his career, he has dealt with cases concerning air pollution prevention, water pollution prevention, contaminated lands, waste management, and environmental permits.
Expert Opinion
“Stefano’s environmental law credentials are a great boost to the team. We are seeing a growing number of enquiries from our clients on environmental issues and as the Environment Bill makes its way through Parliament and in the run up to COP 26, it is clear these issues are here to stay. Stefano’s experience mean we have increased the capacity to deal with such issues for our clients and provides a unique global perspective which we are seeing as an increasing concern.”
“Our clients are keen to learn more about emissions and the impact of the ESG and climate change agendas, particularly those in the manufacturing and development sector. We hope to recruit further lawyers such as Stefano with expertise in this growing area.”
