Latest Appointment Demonstrates Ongoing Investment

The Manchester office of Irwin Mitchell has continued with its ongoing investment and strategic drive to build a first class real estate team in Manchester with the appointment of planning associate, Emily Williams.
Moving from DLA Piper in Manchester where she worked for over five years, Emily works alongside developers, land owners, banks, local authorities and government agencies, providing legal planning advice on a broad range of projects. These include the drafting and negotiating of planning and related infrastructure agreements and the preparation for major planning inquiries.
Emily Williams, associate at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Irwin Mitchell has a reputation for being innovative in the legal market and this, combined with its ongoing investment in real estate, makes the firm an exciting proposition. I’m excited about supporting the expansion of the team in Manchester, as well as Irwin Mitchell’s national planning team.
Irwin Mitchell recently appointed a 14-strong, four partner, real estate team from DLA Piper in Manchester. Since then the team has continued to expand with the appointment earlier in May of Solicitor, Adam Barrett. The firm also recently promoted Claire Quinn to partner, bringing the real estate partner team to six.
Anita Weightman, partner and Head of real estate in Manchester, said: “Emily is another important part of the jigsaw as we look to build the strongest real estate team in Manchester. We now have one of the largest real estate teams in the North West, but we are very much focussed on our commitment to grow the team further and firmly establish the department as the strongest in the region.”
Oliver Martin, partner and National Head of planning at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Emily is an expert in complex planning, highways and related public law issues and has extensive judicial review expertise acting for a wide range of clients. Emily will be a real asset to the team and we are delighted that she has decided to join the firm.”
