Road Safety Week 2022: Safe Roads For All

Road Safety Week 2022 is held from 14 to 20 November.  

It's Brake’s biggest annual road safety campaign and provides an opportunity for thousands of organisations and communities to come together and raise awareness of the importance of road safety and our right to safe roads for all. Irwin Mitchell is proud to support this campaign every year and the ongoing work of Brake.

The theme of this year’s campaign is 'Safe Roads For All.' 

As Brake says, 'every life on our roads matters, and every death and injury is preventable'. The hope is that this year’s campaign will highlight key ongoing issues in road safety including vehicle safety, speed, the new hierarchy of road users, and the importance of inclusivity to keep us all safe on the roads, no matter who we are, or how we travel.

In September 2022, Irwin Mitchell's Birmingham Serious Injury Team welcomed a new colleague – Rob Williams. Rob is a recently retired police officer who has served 32 years with West Midlands Police.

He's joined the team as regional police co-ordinator and his role involves providing the legal team with support on cases in liaising with the police, site and vehicle inspections, gathering liability evidence and a wider role involving the development of relationships with local forces to support the work that we do involving road traffic collisions.

Rob spent the final 15 years of his policing career working as a Family Liaison Officer (FLO), eight years of which were as a Detective in Murder Investigation and his last seven years was as a founder member of the first full-time Dedicated FLO in the country on the Central Motorway Police Group.  Whilst on the dedicated FLO team, Rob was deployed as the lead FLO to over 300 families who had either lost the life of a loved one, or their loved one had sustained life threatening/changing injuries as a result of a road traffic collision.

Having now retired from his career in the Police, Rob is pleased and proud to be able to continue his work as part of our team.
