We secured a five-figure compensation settlement for our client, Janet*, who was hit by a van as she crossed a road in Crawley.
The incident happened when a driver turned onto a main road and drove along the wrong side of the road. Janet, who’s 81 years old and retired, sustained multiple injuries when the van collided with her. The driver was arrested at the scene and later pleaded guilty to three driving offences.
Janet has since recovered from a fractured left shoulder and pubic bone, soft tissue injuries to her left hip and left arm – with thanks to her sons who’ve helped care for her. However, she continues to suffer with back pain as well as mental health problems like anxiety and low mood.
Janet got in touch with our road traffic accidents team to see if we could help. We collected evidence about the accident and negotiated two increases to Janet’s compensation offer before she even had to have a medical exam. She’ll now use the money to buy a new automatic car to help her regain her independence.

Although our client is elderly, she’s very active and is keen to recapture her independence. The compensation will pay for specialist therapy and rehabilitation to help her recover from her injuries and mental health issues.
