Our Military Injury solicitors have secured a six-figure out of court settlement for a client who suffered head injuries while working for the MoD.
Our client Chris* was in Kenya on a team exercise. They were going to attempt to summit Point Lenana, the highest peak on Mount Kenya that can be reached without climbing.
While on the trek, Chris lost his footing on a slippery surface and was found unconscious. He sustained serious head injuries including multiple fractures to his skull, hearing loss in the right ear, a loss of vision in the right eye, and severe headaches.
His injuries were described as ‘traumatic’ and severely affected his quality of life.
As a result of his injuries, Chris was discharged from the Armed Forces and needed constant care and support from his family. We negotiated an out-of-court compensation settlement to get some justice for Chris, and the MoD admitted that they were responsible for his injuries.
The parties reached a settlement that allowed Chris to access the specialist treatment he needed, including brain injury rehabilitation. The funds also allowed the client to access professional personal care, making life easier for Chris and allowing him to get back to normal family life.
If you or a loved one has been injured whilst working for the Armed Forces, you might be able to make a compensation claim. Find out how we could help by visiting our Military Injury Claims page.
