Our medical negligence solicitors have helped a client claim tens of thousands in compensation after mistakes during their hip replacement surgery left them with one leg longer than the other.
During the surgery, the surgeon cut too much off our client’s femur (thigh bone) when attaching the hip replacement. This meant that the hip replacement was now the wrong size.
The mistake meant that the affected leg is now shorter than the other.
Our client got in touch with our surgery compensation claim specialists and we sent a Letter of Claim to the NHS trust responsible for their care.
The NHS trust denied responsibility, claiming that our client had consented to the procedure and had been made aware that it might leave them with different leg length.
We contacted an orthopaedic expert, however, who agreed that our client’s surgery was negligent.
The NHS trust continued to dispute liability and the case was due to go to trial in December 2017. We successfully negotiated a five-figure settlement for our client before the case went to court.
If you or a family member has suffered due to negligent surgical treatment, you may be able to make a surgery claim. Contact us online to find out more.
