Our Armed Forces team in Southampton successfully secured significant compensation for a Platoon Commander who suffered a brain injury in a road traffic accident.
Our client, an Army Officer, had been posted to a training centre in Surrey for a year. One day when he was cycling to work he was hit by a van as it went to overtake another vehicle.
The accident caused him serious neck and lower back pain, and he also sustained a mild traumatic brain injury. He now suffers from intense headaches every day and his injuries have caused him to be medically downgraded. Although he was not discharged from the Forces, his military career has been seriously affected, and his career prospects are not what they were before the accident.
Following negotiations between our expert Military Injuries team and the van driver’s insurance company, we secured £250,000 in compensation for our client. The level of compensation reflects the seriousness of the injuries he sustained and the impact the accident has had on his quality of life, career and personal life.
Andrew Buckham, a specialist Military lawyer, represented the officer. Andrew said of the case: “We’re pleased to have been able to secure this compensation for our client, whose future prospects in the Forces have been seriously affected by this accident. We hope this settlement will allow him to access the support and rehabilitation he needs to move forwards with his life.
If you have been involved in a road traffic accident while off duty, our Military Injury solicitors could help you claim compensation. See our Military Road Traffic Accident page for more information.
