We secured a six-figure settlement for a woman who was run down by an uninsured driver on her way to work. The accident left her with multiple injuries, including nerve damage that has had an effect on her daily life.
Our client, a lady in her 50’s from Yorkshire, was crossing the road on her way to work when a driver turned off the main road without indicating, cut the corner and drove into her.
The woman sustained multiple injuries including fractures to her neck and an injury to her shoulder. This caused nerve damage which left her with altered sensation in her arm and hand. She also suffered anxiety and panic attacks following the accident.
Because the motorist was driving without insurance, we submitted a claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau, who deal with uninsured cases. Through the MIB we secured physiotherapy and psychological therapy for our client to help her recovery.
The claim settled for a six figure sum. This settlement took into account not just the injuries that our client suffered, but also her loss of earnings due to time off work following the accident; the assistance she needed on a day to day level because of her injuries and nerve damage; the costs of the therapy and support; and the potential impact on her future work plans due to her on-going symptoms.
Louise Morgan, an expert serious injury lawyer, represented the woman in her claim. Louise said of the case: “We’re very pleased to have secured this outcome for our client, who has suffered considerable pain and anxiety because of this driver’s reckless actions. The compensation cannot make up for the damage caused, but we hope it will allow our client to get the support she needs to move forwards with her life.”
