Solicitors from our Leeds office have secured a six-figure settlement for a mid-forties man who suffered serious injuries in a road traffic accident.
Shortly before Christmas in December 2015, our client was crossing the road at night when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. He suffered a head injury and multiple fractures to his leg.
He got in touch with our serious injury lawyers to investigate his case. There was limited police or witness evidence available but our team tracked down CCTV footage of the incident which had been captured by a nearby bus.
The driver’s insurers did not clarify their position for some time but offered to settle the claim once we disclosed the CCTV footage. A six-figure settlement was agreed on the basis that our client was 40% responsible for the accident.
Carolyn Heaton, Partner in IM’s Serious Injury team, said: “This was a positive result for our client in difficult circumstances and we are pleased that we were able to quickly resolve his claim efficiently, with a prompt, favourable settlement. He now has funds available to assist him with his rehabilitation and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Our client also received advice from IM’s Court of Protection and Trusts team about setting up a Personal Injury Trust to manage his compensation funds. He reported being very impressed and happy with the service provided by Carolyn Heaton and Alan Ball in our Serious Injury team, and thanked IM for their help.
