Our medical negligence solicitors have secured a five-figure compensation sum for an amateur footballer an on knee surgery.
Tomas Adams, 27, felt his knee ‘pop’ while playing football in 2013. He had damaged his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The following year, he had surgery to reconstruct the ligament at West Midlands Hospital.
However, he continued to have problems with his knee and an MRI scan in January 2015 showed evidence that the ligament had torn again. Another surgery in March 2015 repaired the tear successfully but Tomas will still need extra treatment in the future.
Tomas got in touch with our surgery claims lawyers and asked us to look into the care he had received at West Midlands Hospital. Ramsay Health Care UK Operations Limited, who manages the hospital, admitted that Tomas’ original ACL graft was positioned incorrectly and agreed to pay Tomas a five-figure compensation settlement.
Tomas is now looking forward to a brighter future: “You put great trust in medical experts when you suffer injuries of this nature, so I was devastated when I discovered there had been failings in my care.
“It has been an incredibly frustrating few years where my life has been dominated by hospital appointments and gruelling physio sessions, but after receiving this settlement, I just want to put this behind me and move on with my life.
“I only hope now that no one else has to go through what I have faced and lessons have properly been learned.”
