The menopause is a workplace issue. Usually the menopause affects women aged between 45 and 55, but it can affect women who are younger. Menopausal symptoms can also persist after the menopause. The Office for National Statistics says there are 4.5 million working women in the UK aged 50 – 64, and that number is growing. Supporting employees going through the menopause will help you retain experienced staff and reduce absences.
While the menopause isn’t specifically mentioned as a “protected characteristic” in the Equality Act 2010, the Government is considering changing that. Claims at the Employment Tribunal relating to the menopause are growing, and women are becoming increasingly aware of their employment rights.
Our free guide will help you understand what you can do to make your business menopause friendly. We’ve also included a template menopause policy which you can easily edit to use in your organisation.
