We’re excited to be working with British Rowing as their new official legal partner, to make sure rowing continues to thrive. As part of this, we’re providing a legal and tax helpline to support all British Rowing clubs. We’re also helping the sport become more accessible to a wider audience by sharing our expertise on diversity and inclusion.
British Rowing is the national governing body for the sport in England. They’re responsible for the development of rowing in England, as well as training and selecting competitive rowers to represent Great Britain at World Championships and Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The sport has been thriving for years, with rowing being one of Britain’s most successful Olympic sports. British Rowing has 530 clubs, 30,000 members and hosts more than 200 events every year.
As British Rowing’s official legal partner, we’re working to help introduce more people to the sport, as well as helping the rowing community clubs handle their legal issues.
Our Legal & Tax Helpline
We’re supporting British Rowing by providing a legal helpline to support their 500 member clubs and competitions in accessing legal and tax advice. This means British Rowing members can seek free initial guidance about club administration or about competitions. Our dedicated team of experts will provide callers with valuable support when they really need it.
The helpline also offers practical support for British Rowing’s in-house legal team by taking on some of their day-to-day legal work. Our experts handle enquiries about intellectual property, data protection, commercial advisory, risk management and sponsorship.
This reduces the demand on British Rowing’s in-house legal team and club services, allowing them to focus on other legal matters, engage with the wider community and grow their sport.
Promoting Diversity & Inclusion
As an important goal in their strategy, we’re helping British Rowing make the sport more inclusive and representative of British society. We’re working with the Board and community members to help them understand what diversity and inclusivity (D&I) should look like throughout their organisation and leadership.
We’re highlighting the responsibilities every person can take to contribute to diversity and inclusivity on an individual level. This means educating British Rowing staff and volunteers on the Equality Act, helping them to create a diverse and inclusive environment.
We’ve also introduced our D&I experts to British Rowing to help the organisation share ideas and initiatives with each other. This has already helped British Rowing to hear and learn from others’ experiences to help foster an inclusive approach throughout the organisation.
Meet The Athletes
We spoke to three of British Rowing's top athletes to find out how they got into rowing and how they became so good at the sport.
