At Irwin Mitchell, we believe that building healthy and resilient organisations is essential for long-term success and sustainability. Our commitment to fostering resilience extends not only to our own operations but also to the clients and communities we serve. Through a focus on ethical, accountable, and inclusive governance, we aim to create environments where organisations can adapt, recover, and grow stronger from the economic, social and environmental challenges they face, in order to thrive.
Our approach
Ethical governance: Underpinned by a suite of policies and documents some of which are listed below, our Code of Ethics acts as a guide for the people and organisations who work with us, outlining the basic principles and standards which govern the way we do business, which we are proud to uphold and share.
- Our Modern Slavery Statement provides detailed information on our efforts and initiatives to eradicating all forms of modern slavery
- Our Anti Bribery and Corruption Statement outlines our zero tolerance approach
- Our Privacy and Security Policies demonstrate our commitment to upholding the highest standards of data protection and cyber security
- Our Complaints Procedure has information about the different routes our stakeholders have to make complaints and supports our aim to ensure continuous improvement to the ways we work.
Along with the Code, we have established an Introduction to Business Ethics masterclass for colleagues, and a process for escalating issues to our Ethics Working Group, part of our Responsible Business Forum, which includes key senior leaders and subject matter experts.
Leadership and culture: Strong leadership and culture is crucial for organisational resilience. Our Board is committed to making informed, responsible decisions that prioritise the wellbeing of our colleagues, clients, and communities. Accountability at all levels of the organisation ensures that we remain focused on our goals and responsive to the needs of our stakeholders. This leadership and our values set the tone of our culture.
Working with our suppliers: Our ambition to become a leading responsible business drives us to partner with organisations that share our values and ESG commitments. Our Supplier Code of Conduct serves as a comprehensive guide, detailing our core values and the standards our suppliers can expect from us and what we expect from them in return. It ensures that our partnerships are built on a foundation of trust, respect, and integrity.
Supporting our clients
Our commitment to resilience extends beyond our own operations and through our advisory services, we help clients build robust frameworks that support sustainable and inclusive growth. Our experts provide guidance on a vast range of issues from regulatory compliance and financial sustainability to policy review and climate change laws, ensuring that our clients are well-equipped to face future challenges.
We’ve also launched our “Business But Better” podcast series featuring our own Responsible Business and ESG legal experts, as well as industry leaders, who discuss issues ranging from greenwashing and ‘AI,’ to net-zero transitioning and the importance of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
