Biography
I am an Associate Solicitor in the International Serious Injury Team working across both our Manchester and Leeds Offices. I specialise in acting for clients who have been injured whilst abroad and for individuals who live in a different country but have been injured in England and Wales.
I act for individuals who have been very seriously injured and may have sustained a catastrophic injury such as a brain or spinal injury, serious psychiatric injuries and in cases of sexual assault. I also act on behalf of families who have lost a loved one as a result of an accident or negligent surgery. I therefore act for individuals in all types of cases including road traffic, employment, skiing, public and surgical accidents.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell is genuinely committed to their clients. They are a full-service law firm which means that once my client’s claim is settled, I can point them in the direction of our Trusts Team to protect the settlement or to our in-house Financial Advisors who can advise our clients on the best way to invest their settlement. We also have a Support and Rehabilitation Team and Welfare and Benefits Team, so we can help our clients beyond simply seeking compensation on their behalf.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The first aspect is being able to genuinely help someone achieve their goals. Sometimes that can be helping someone to find answers or helping them to achieve justice for a wrongdoing. The second aspect is to push the boundaries of the law. People often think that the law doesn’t go far enough or achieve enough. Where possible, Irwin Mitchell strives to push those boundaries to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
What inspired you to get into law?
It probably sounds a little cliché, but I wanted to get into the law to really help people. Unfortunately, most people only seek the advice of a lawyer in difficult times. It is therefore my privilege to be able to help an individual through that time and, in my particular specialism, to help them seek justice and compensation when they have suffered with a very serious and often life changing injury.
What do you do away from the office?
I really enjoy travelling the world. I would love to see the whole world in my lifetime and travel to as many different countries as possible. It is really amazing to see new and different places, experience the local culture, cuisine and history.
