Biography
I joined Irwin Mitchell as a solicitor in the Court of Protection team and am based in our Manchester office.
From helping clients and trustees with the creation and administration of trusts, to acting on behalf of clients who have been assessed as lacking the mental capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs, I am focussed on providing clients with the support they need in difficult circumstances and helping them to plan for their future.
A key part of my role is developing a relationship with clients to discuss their needs and to ensure that their property and affairs are managed in their best interests. I support people with degenerative medical conditions, severe mental and physical disabilities including those with an acquired brain injury to ensure their needs and any future goals are met.
Many clients require a Court appointed Deputy to manage large sums of damages awarded following a personal injury or clinical negligence claim. I am involved in making applications for the appointment of a professional or lay deputy, and in assisting with the delivery of Irwin Mitchell’s professional deputyship service.
I am also accredited by STEP as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). STEP are the worldwide professional association for those helping families to plan for the future.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Working in Court of Protection involves improving a client's quality of life, supporting people who are vulnerable and guiding clients through challenging experiences which is very rewarding. I also like building long standing relationships with my clients.
What inspired you to get into law?
I became a solicitor because I wanted a career that allowed me to advocate for individuals who may be vulnerable and to have a positive impact on the lives of my clients.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office I enjoy travelling, baking, swimming and (when I get chance) relaxing in a spa with a good book. I am happiest when spending time with friends, family and my Golden Retriever, Ted.
