Event Aims To Explore The Options And Dispel The Myths In National Apprenticeship Week
As part of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week (5-11 February 2023) a national law firm is set to deliver an advice webinar aimed at guiding students through the options available to them.
Taking place on Wednesday 7 February between 6-7pm, the free webinar led by apprenticeship experts at Irwin Mitchell is set to welcome students, parents and teachers alike to a walk through about the opportunities available at Irwin Mitchell.
The hour-long session will look to dispel some of the common myths and misconceptions that still surround apprenticeships and why they should form a part of serious considerations for all students, parents and influencers assessing future career options.
Held every year, National Apprenticeship Week (NAS) aims to raise awareness of the many benefits that modern apprenticeships can offer, allowing students to explore all the options open to them and work out the right route to their own future career.
The Irwin Mitchell presentation will include a mix of information and advice in a variety of formats, including the perspective of current apprentices at Irwin Mitchell, who will be offering their own personal reflections on the experience and what the scheme has meant for them and why they opted for this route over university.
Since March 2021, Irwin Mitchell has started over 125 apprentices throughout the firm’s offices across the UK, in a whole range of fields, from law itself, to a host of other options, including marketing and business analysts to fields such as tax and finance. The number of apprenticeship programmes has also increased at the firm, from 3 to 23 during the same period.
This year is expected to see Irwin Mitchell welcome a big intake again of apprentices in September 2024, building on the firm being the number one law firm with the highest number of apprentices.
Lorcan Seery, Apprenticeship Manager at Irwin Mitchell, said: “There still remains a lot of myths and misconceptions that surround apprenticeships, so for NAW this year, we’re pleased to be able to offer an event to challenge some of those and answer people’s questions.
“Apprenticeships can be a great alternative to university and we’re concerned that not enough students, parents or teachers realise this. It’s time to challenge some of the common fallacies about apprenticeships that we still hear, year in and year out. Apprenticeships represent a serious investment by the firm and people are engaged in real work, with a real wage from day one.
“While it’s understandable that schools promote university, modern apprenticeships represent a powerful and compelling alternative. There are no fees to pay and students finish their course with a qualification and an established career path laid out in front of them and not just in law.
“There are all sorts of career opportunities available with a firm like Irwin Mitchell and the misconception that students can only come to study law is another we’re keen to dispel.”
