Workplace safety in a dangerous world
Whether it's terrorist threats or the growing prevalence of stress and depression at work, businesses have to be on top of the risks to their staff. How can you take steps to ensure employees are physically and mentally safe at work, in this ever-changing world? A physical impediment is likely to be identified, but what about excessive working hours or supporting the staff member undergoing long term medical treatment? Recent cases have shown that passing the responsibility to the Employee Assistance Programme is not enough. We need to be more collectively aware and in my view, a little more human, to see the risks and minimise them.
